Let’s be real here: a huge draw of being a course/content creator is the ability to make money in a way you love, right? There is immense value in sharing your passions, growing a community, and helping others in their journey through life. And getting paid while doing it is THE. DREAM! But unfortunately the only way we can create this amazing content full-time is if we are making a sizable income from it.

As a creator, you’ve likely already been making a solid income somehow - whether it be through your specific craft, or something like brand partnerships. My wish for you is to grow your income beyond your wildest dreams with your own unique offerings. Here are 10 different ways you can monetize your audience with your website.

  1. Templates/Presets
  2. Checklists
  3. E-books
  4. Coaching
  5. Courses
  6. Curated products lists
  7. Signature products with brands
  8. Products for success
  9. Memberships with exclusive content
  10. Tickets to events

  1. Templates/Presets

One of the simplest forms of a product you can sell is some sort of template or preset. The type of template you choose to sell depends on your niche and what your audience would find useful.

Photography edit presets became super popular around the mid-2010s. Heck, I’ve bought a handful and now pay for a photo editing app that was created by a content creator.

Templates are helpful for guiding your customer through a specific task. A flower farmer might sell a fill-in-the-blank outline of a planting schedule. A fashion influencer might sell a template for designing a personalized capsule wardrobe. A food blogger could create a monthly meal planning template.

The key to creating a useful template is to think about the first steps someone needs to take on their journey. The template they purchase helps them organize their efforts and sets them up to follow your unique path to accomplishing their goals.

  1. Checklists

Checklists are another simple piece of content you can monetize on your website. The principle is the same here as it is with templates - a useful checklist will help the customer with the first steps in your process, ideally convincing them to hop on for the rest of the ride with you.

Using the same niches from above, here are some ideas for what types of checklists to create:

  • Flower Farmer: A checklist that lists out all of the daily tasks necessary for cultivating a flourishing flower garden.
  • Fashion Influencer: A checklist of must-have basics in your wardrobe.
  • Food Blogger: A shopping list that correlates with recipes for a themed event.

Checklists, along with other low-cost (or free) digital products like templates are a great way to begin to build your email list as well!

  1. E-books

When you have a wealth of knowledge on a particular subject, an E-book is a great option to sell. They’re a great way to build credibility and expertise in your niche.

E-books are long-form content that meet customers in the next step of their journey. The buyer likely has learned a lot of the basics in the niche and now wants to dive a bit deeper into one of the topics.

The flower farmer might create an E-book that details everything you need to know about the history, biology, and caring for the Asteraceae flower family. The fashion influencer could write an E-book that guides the reader through cultivating their personal style. The food blogger could write an exclusive recipe E-book.

  1. Coaching

One-on-one or group coaching is an exclusive, high-ticket offer you could sell on your website. The coaching relationship could last for a specified amount of time, or be on-going. Regular coaching sessions are a great way to invest personally in your clients’ journey and build consistent income.

Coaching offers are highly personalized and give the client specific guidance through their journey. A fashion influencer might offer coaching sessions to help clients curate their personal style and help them find clothes they feel confident in based on their body type.

  1. Courses

It seems like everyone and their sister is now creating a course - and for good reason!

Courses have become a very popular option for monetizing knowledge related to a particular skill set. Creating a course is a common next step for coaches, but you don’t have to be a coach to create a course. The content of courses is usually similar to that found in the coaching sessions, but it is less personalized because a course is typically self-led with some community aspects.

  1. Curated product lists

Curated product lists have become a common way for influencers and content creators to make money. Examples of websites that create curated product lists are Amazon and LTK.

You can host these curated lists right on your website, or your website can link out to storefronts where you make a commission. An easy way to link out to these storefronts is to put them right in your navigation bar. You can also place product links throughout blog posts or other pages on your site!

Basically, sprinkle these links everywhere that makes sense so your customers can easily figure out how to buy your recommendations. Tip: make sure your link opens in a new tab so someone doesn’t lose their place on your website!

  1. Signature products with brands

A unique option for creating income through your website is to partner with brands to create a signature product to sell. For instance, many beauty influencers have partnered with big beauty brands to create an exclusive product. (Talk about a dream?!)

Depending on your contract, you may be able to link to the products directly from your website. This could be through a curated list on your site, or through links in a blog post. A fun blog post could be one all about your experience creating the products and then linking the products throughout the post.

  1. Products for success

Your customers might need specific products to aid in their success throughout their journey. You could either create and manufacture these products yourself, or provide commissionable/affiliate links to products from other brands.

An example of this I saw the other day was with a fitness influencer. She not only created her own line of athletic wear, but also fitness equipment. She uses her fitness equipment in her workout videos, and I will literally buy her booty band over any other because I trust that her’s will give me the results I want.

  1. Memberships with exclusive content

Exclusive content is a very exciting thing to offer your dedicated followers. This might be a community, select podcast episodes, special videos, and particular blog posts.

These pieces of exclusive content can assist your customers by helping them go even deeper into their journey and meet success faster.

Exclusive content can be hosted right on your website, or your website can provide links to wherever the content is located.

  1. Tickets to events

In-person or online events are another fun offering to provide your customers. Events can take a variety of forms and can be an incredibly unique way to interact with and provide value to your followers.

Simple events might be classes, meet-and-greets, or discussions/presentations, but really, the sky's the limit here. How fun would it be to host an in-person cooking class? What about a group hike? Or maybe a sunset picnic at the beach simply to meet like-minded people on a similar journey?

Once you're ready to step into creating your own unique offers, you get to create products that meet the exact needs of your ideal customer.

How amazing would it be to provide them with valuable products that ultimately lead them along their journey to success - whatever that may be. Hosting all of these products on your website makes it incredibly easy for your potential customers to find everything you have to offer and literally (ok, figuratively) buckling up in the passenger seat next to you.
