It’s time to tell the world about your freebie!

If you’re just joining me in this series, I have quite a treasure trove of blog posts all about creating a lead generation tool, making a form on Kit that allows people to download your freebie, setting up your email sequence, designing your landing page, and now we are finally at the point where we get to actually tell people about it.

Marketing your freebie is a lot like marketing any sort of other digital product. If you have absolutely no idea where to start (or need some fresh ideas), I’m here to help! Here’s a peek at what this post will cover:

  1. Where to Post
  2. Post Formats to Create
  3. Post Ideas and Examples

Where to Post

Social Media

I’m going to start with the most obvious place to post about your opt-in: social media. If you are already leaning into marketing on a specific platform, then that is the most natural place for you to begin.

Depending on the format of marketing content you are posting to social media, I highly suggest cross-posting to platforms that utilize the same format. For instance, short form videos can be posted to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest.

Email List

I know, I know…you created your lead magnet to grow an email list. But here me out: you maybe (just maybe) already have a small but mighty email list going. Why not send your freebie to those subscribers too?

I mean, if you created an irresistible opt-in that your audience can benefit from, then it is very likely that your current subscribers want to know about it. It’s a great way to further demonstrate your expertise and build trust with this audience that has already expressed interest!

Real Conversations

Your business as a course creator or entrepreneur is largely based online, but there is still a ton of opportunity to have “face-to-face” conversations with people. While you might not be in the actual physical presence of one another, you might be having conversations with people in direct messages, comments, and emails.

If anyone you are talking with seems like they could benefit from the freebie you created, go ahead and tell them about it! If you’re worried about appearing slimy and pushy, don’t worry. There’s a bunch of different ways you can phrase your message to someone to simply let them know that you created something that they might genuinely enjoy.

Heck, you could even directly send them the pdf and skip the whole “sign up with your email” thing if you feel extra weird about it! You’re still providing value to someone and building a relationship.

Post Formats to Create

One of the really cool things about living in a digital age is that there are SO many different content formats we can create! Feel free to pick and choose which ones work best with your current marketing strategy.

  • Short form videos (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest)
  • Long form videos (YouTube)
  • Stories (Instagram, SnapChat)
  • Image Carousels (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest)
  • Blog Posts (Your website!)
  • Audio Recordings (Podcast Platforms, YouTube)

Post Ideas and Examples

Now is the time where you get creative with figuring out the best ways to actually display or tell people about your opt-in.

Yes, AI is always a friend you can count on for ideas. Using Artificial Intelligence is a great way to get the creative juices flowing! One of my favorite tactics is to spend time thinking of my own ideas first, and then consulting AI to see what it comes up with.

Honestly, the more that I use AI for generating ideas, the more I realize that it gives pretty generic responses. I just know that you can think of some amazing and creative ideas for content on your own!

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Scrolling through your freebie with a voice-over of you talking about it
  • Behind-the-scenes as you created the freebie (or acting as if you were creating it 😉)
  • Case studies of people who have completed the freebie
  • Examples of how someone could use it or the results they’d receive
  • Your personal before/after story and why you created the freebie

YOU DID IT. CONGRATULATIONS! You have completed a huge portion of your marketing funnel by creating and implementing your lead magnet!

Your next step: shoot me an email! I would love to hear all about the freebie you created and everything about the whole process. Thanks for trusting me to help you 🫶
